Hoyer Focuses on Keeping Energy Facilities in Calvert Secure

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer, (D-MD) today reviewed the security measures in place to keep Constellation's Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, the Dominion Cove Point LNG facility and the communities surrounding each facility protected. Rep. Hoyer was given a tour of Calvert Cliffs and watched a demonstration of the security exercises employed by the Coast Guard on the Chesapeake Bay. Mr. Hoyer also took a ride on a Coast Guard boat to the Cove Point docking pier to tour the offshore platform.

Hoyer Delivers Millions in Overdue Transportation Funding for

Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) announced today that the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Transportation Reauthorization Conference Report, agreed to by both the House and the Senate, which includes major funds to improve Prince George’s County’s transportation infrastructure. The Transportation Reauthorization Conference Report authorizes federal funding for transportation projects over the next six years.

Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today that the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Transportation Reauthorization Conference Report, agreed to by both the House and the Senate, which includes major funds to improve the District of Columbia Metropolitan Area’s transportation infrastructure. Hoyer Secures Funds to Preserve Maryland’s Unique Heritage

Major funding for several projects important to Maryland’s environment and economy is contained in the fiscal year 2006 Interior Appropriations Conference Report, agreed to in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, that was passed by the House of Representatives today. The funding will help to preserve Southern Maryland’s historic tobacco barns, it will benefit the Alice Ferguson Foundation in Prince George’s County, and will provide critical funds to clean up the Chesapeake Bay and the Anacostia River. The funds were all included in the bill at the request of Congressman Steny Hoyer.

Hoyer, Cardin: Medicare Law Needs to be Fixed, Not Simply Promoted

As Secretary of Health & Human Services Mike Leavitt toured Baltimore today to promote the Medicare prescription drug benefit, U.S. Reps. Steny Hoyer (D, MD-5) and Ben Cardin (D, MD-3) both expressed serious concerns about the Medicare law that takes effect in January 2006, providing seniors with a limited prescription drug benefit.
