SEN. SALAZAR STATEMENT ON TODAY’S BRAC DECISION

WASHINGTON, D.C. – United States Senator Ken Salazar released the following statement regarding today’s BRAC decision.

“I am disappointed with the decision taken earlier this afternoon by the Commission, but I remain confident that the Secretary of Defense’s original analysis about Buckley Annex will win the day. The Department of Defense determined that the Coloradans working at Buckley’s Defense Finance Accounting Service, or DFAS, were more effective at performing their duties than nearly any other team in the country. It makes no sense to dismantle a winning team. Moreover, the Buckley Annex has the capacity to consolidate these DFAS services – and can do so without requiring one additional penny of taxpayer funded construction. I will work with my colleagues in the Congress and at home in Colorado to keep the Buckley Annex open.”
