SENS. ALLARD & SALAZAR TO HOST LOWER ARK PUBLIC MEETING
COSTS, LOCATION AND DESIGN FOCUS OF COMMUNITY FORUM

WASHINGTON, D.C. – United States Senators Wayne Allard and Ken Salazar will hold a public meeting to discuss legislative and other issues to move forward on constructing the Arkansas Valley Conduit. In addition to the Senators, Representatives Marilyn Musgrave (CD-4) and John Salazar (CD-3) have been invited to attend. The meeting is scheduled for July 16, 2005 at 2:00 pm MDT in the Student Center on the campus of Otero Junior College, located at 1802 Colorado Avenue in La Junta, Colorado.

"The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the specifics of the cost, location and design of the pipeline," Senator Allard said. "As we begin the legislative process on the Arkansas Valley Conduit, it's critical that we keep the citizens of the Lower Arkansas Valley informed as the project moves along. Feedback from the people affected by this project is key to making the conduit a success."

“Lower Arkansas Valley communities will be impacted the most by this proposed conduit – it only makes sense to hold a public meeting there so they can give their input on the affects on and needs of their communities,” Senator Salazar said. “Because, in the end, their livelihoods are at stake and we should do everything we can to help them thrive.”
