November 18, 2005 – In November 2005, the House passed the conference report for the Departments of Transportation, Treasure, Housing and Urban Development, and Judiciary. In this bill, Congressman Rubén Hinojosa was able to secure funding for projects in the 15th Congressional District.

February 16, 2004 – On February 16, 2004 Congressman Rubén Hinojosa announced that the City of Mission Fire Department was awarded $397,080 in funding from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program.

January 12, 2004 – Jose S. Longoria, of Mission, Texas, enlisted in the U. S. Army at 18 years of age. During his two years of service he saw action in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, the last German offensive in the west during World War II.
