Progress On The Daily Email Alerts
Since launching this new site last week, some of you have not been getting your daily email alerts. This is a really complicated problem, and our programmers are working on it full time. We are very close to solving this for everyone, but in the meantime, if you haven't been receiving yours, please login and a) make sure your Email Alerts are set to your preferences; and b) that these are not too narrow (i.e. not just one small city or one area of interest). Thanks for your patience as we iron this out!

Yes, Idealist Has Changed... Welcome Back!
Our team is HAPPY today
Hello! After more than a year of work, we pressed the button over the weekend, and this new site came to life. As you can see, the look of the site has changed, and we have dozens of new features (listed below).
Most importantly, this is the first time that Idealist truly expresses the vision that has driven us since the beginning, and we hope you will join us in realizing this dream.
This vision is simple: we want to help build a world where all people can live free and dignified lives; where any person who wants to help another can do so; and where no opportunities for action and collaboration are missed or wasted - and we want to do this with you. To see what we are proposing, and how you can participate, click on Imagine.
Right now, this site is only a couple of days old, and as you explore it, you may find a typo, a bug, or just something that’s not clear. We did our best to find all of these before we launched, but Idealist is huge, our staff is small, and this week we’ll need your help (and patience) to make sure everything works smoothly. So - if you find anything that you think needs to be fixed, please tell us about it (the more details the better). Thank you!

So What Features Did We Add?
First, here is what hasn’t changed: you can still use Idealist to find and post job openings, volunteer opportunities, events, and more, in English, Spanish, and French, and receive daily email alerts with new listings matching your interests and location.
And here is some of what’s new:
* Instead of separate logins and dashboards for individuals and organizations, we now have a single login and one Control Panel for everyone. Login or sign up, and you’ll see what we mean.
* Organizations can now archive their postings for future use.
* You can now post Personal, Volunteer, and Speaker Profiles, upload photos, and send messages to others on the site.
* The Email Alerts have been upgraded and you can now get alerts about new listings in multiple countries and in multiple languages with a single Idealist account.
* For every search you do on the site, you can now subscribe to a specific RSS feed.
* In the Advanced Searches, you can now get results in multiple languages for a single search.
* Since one of our main goals is to help people connect face-to-face as well as online, we have added four new concepts to the site: Community Points, Affinity Groups, Outreach Teams, and Start-up Meetings. Check out Imagine and Connect for more details.
* We also have three new resource centers, for college and university Students, for nonprofit Human Resources professionals and for Community Action.
* The Spanish and French versions of Idealist have been completely redone, and we have started new sites in Chinese, Dutch, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, and Portuguese.
* Lastly, we completely overhauled our About Us section, and added a photo gallery, a new Contact Us page that also acts as a site-map, a fully searchable Help Section, and much more.
Two features we had to remove for now (they will come back better and stronger) were the daily nonprofit news updates, and the old discussion board.
These are the main changes, but if you know Idealist you will also find many more. And again, if anything seems strange in the next few days, please bear with us and let us know.
Thank you!

If you only have a minute:
Idealist has changed
Welcome again! After more than a year of work, on November 3rd this new site came to life.
If you’ve been using Idealist for a while, these are the two most important changes for you:
If you had a My Idealist profile before, simply login as usual using the login box on the right-hand side of this page. Once you login, you will be asked to verify your basic information, and you will then land on a new Control Panel with lots of new features, and with all of your old information still there.
If your organization is already listed on Idealist, and you want to edit your page or post a new listing, things have changed a bit. To serve you better, and give you more control over the information you post here, every organization on Idealist must now be linked to a specific individual (you in this case). Creating this link takes only a minute, and you only need to do this once.
Here is what you need to do:
- Sign up as an individual (or, if already you had a My Idealist profile on the old site, simply login using the login box on the right-hand side of this page).
- As soon as you login, you will land on your personal Control Panel.
- There, under My Groups, enter the name and password of your organization, and Idealist will automatically find it and add it to your Groups menu.
- To post new content or to make any changes to your organization’s entry, click on the Manage link that will appear next to your organization’s name.
Please note that next time you come back to Idealist, you can simply login on the home page with your email and password, and you will always land on the Control Panel and find your organization there.
So what new features did we add?
First, here is what hasn’t changed: you can still use Idealist to find and post job openings, volunteer opportunities, events, and more, in English, Spanish, and French, and receive daily email alerts with new listings matching your interests and location.

The Email Alerts have been upgraded and you can now get alerts about new listings in multiple countries and in multiple languages with a single Idealist account.
For every search you do on the site, you can now subscribe to a specific RSS feed.
In the advanced searches, you can now get results in multiple languages for any search.
Since one of our main goals is to help people connect face-to-face as well as online, we have added four new concepts to the site: Community Points, Affinity Groups, Outreach Teams, and Start-up Meetings. Check out Imagine and Connect for more details.
