Congressman Costa's Committees and Caucuses
Congressman Jim Costa serves on three powerful House Committees: the Committee on Agriculture, the Committee on Resources and the Committee on Science. On the Committee on Agriculture he serves on the Livestock and Horticulture Subcommittee and the Department Operations, Oversight, Nutrition and Forestry Subcommittee of the House Committee on Agriculture. The subcommittees review issues regarding fruits and vegetables, food stamps, nutrition programs and dairy. As a member of the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management Subcommittee, Costa reviews programs and markets related to cotton and wheat, as well as other commodities. For the Committee on Resources the Congressman serves on the Water and Power Subcommittee and the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee. Congressman Costa?s appointment gives his constituents a voice over water issues, such as water resources planning, research and development and irrigation programs, as well as mining, oil, and gas. In addition, Congressman Costa is on the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee of the House Committee on Science. The subcommittee has jurisdiction over the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), space policy and commercial space activities.
