War on Terror
Since the horrific events of September 11, 2001 President Bush has rightly said that our nation faces a war against terrorism and the groups who employ it. Accordingly, as your representative, and as a member of the House Appropriations Committee, it is my duty to ensure that we in Congress provide all the necessary funds and authority to our intelligence, defense and law enforcement agencies to punish those who committed these acts and to protect the American people from future attacks.
During the past few years our will and our ability to prevent and respond to terrorism has been significantly compromised. We must move forward with a robust international policy and provide the resources necessary to complete the job in Iraq and the war against terrorism. Our troops deserve not only our thoughts and best wishes but the financial backing that they need to be well trained and equipped.
