The beaches of Florida’s Gold Coast are home to the 22nd Congressional District. At 60 miles long, the District covers most of the Atlantic oceanfront and eastern communities from Jupiter to Boca Raton in Palm Beach County and from Deerfield Beach to Fort Lauderdale in Broward County extending inwards to Jupiter Farms, Palm Beach Gardens, Atlantis, The Acreage, and parts of Coral Springs, Parkland  Cooper City, Davie, and Plantation.

The 22nd District is 500 square miles in size with a population of 639,295 (2000 census), and is 99% urban. 15% of our residents are Military veterans, and we have the largest over-65 population percentage of any district in America, as well as one of the largest Jewish percentages.

Development has helped transform our District into a major metropolitan area while still maintaining a flavor all our own, from Addison Mizner’s 1920s Mediterranean-style homes in Palm Beach to the luxury high-rise condominiums of the 1970s and 1980s. We are also home to several major international gateways, such as the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, Palm Beach International Airport, Port Everglades, and the Port of Palm Beach.

Old Florida style has been preserved however; this is best seen in the cultural antiquities of the Stranahan House or Bonnet House. Natural beauty is also in abundance here from the expansive golden-sand beaches to state preserves such as John U. Lloyd State Park, Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, and John D. MacArthur State Park.
