Crapo: Forest Research Must Reach End-Users Subcommittee takes testimony on meeting forest needs

Washington, DC –Idaho Senator Mike Crapo, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Forestry, Conservation, and Rural Revitalization, presided over a hearing today to examine the direction, coordination and long-term plan for forestry research. Testimony focused on forestry research currently being conducted and changes that may be brought to improve coordination and technology transfer. Witnesses for the hearing included representatives of the U.S. Forest Service, university, industry, forestry, and environmental interests. Crapo is a strong proponent of enhanced coordinated research to maximize the use of forests nationwide.
