Due to the recent anthrax contaminated letters, mail delivery to Congressional offices in Washington was temporarily suspended. All House offices including our Washington office received no mail beginning on October 15 until late December. While mail from October, November, and more recent months has began to be delivered, the schedule is very irregular.
As a result, if you sent a letter to Congressman Gutierrez via the U.S. Postal Service or some other mail delivery system at any point since October 15, it is very possible that our office has not received it. In addition, because of the volume of mail sent to Congress and the amount of time it takes for mail to reach Washington, letters sent to Congressman Gutierrez as much as one to two weeks before that date may also have failed to reach our office before the suspension of mail delivery.
If the matter about which you wrote is urgent or time sensitive, you are welcome to call any of Congressman’s offices and staff or contact him through e-mail. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
Congressman Luis Gutierrez, U.S. House of Representatives
