The U.S. Chamber of Commerce
today presented Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite (FL-05) with its prestigious “Spirit of
Enterprise” award for her strong support for a pro-economic growth legislative
agenda in the first session of the 109th Congress.The prestigious award was given at a ceremony
in Lutz following the Congresswoman’s speech to the Central Pasco Chamber
meeting.The award was presented by Mr.
Moore Hallmark of the U.S. Chamber.
“It is truly an honor to
receive this award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce,” said Rep.
Brown-Waite.“I know that small
businesses and the jobs they generate are the backbone of our American economy.Speaking at the Central Pasco Chamber today,
I heard firsthand the positive influence a pro-economic growth voting record
has on local communities.I will
continue to support pro-business legislation and look forward to working with
the fine Chambers of Commerce in Florida’s
5th District throughout my tenure in Congress.”
The Chamber awards the
“Spirit of Enterprise” based on rankings it gives members of Congress for key
business votes outlined in its annual publication, How They Voted.Rep.
Brown-Waite scored 88 percent with the Chamber last year and has compiled a 92
percent cumulative ranking during her tenure in Congress.

For the first session of the
109th Congress, the Chamber scored 18 Senate votes and 27 House votes as key
votes.Key votes for 2005 included the
class action reform, bankruptcy reform, a comprehensive energy bill,
transportation reauthorization legislation, and the U.S.-Dominican
Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement.
