Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr. today announced that the Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District has been awarded $2,716,908 in port security funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  The funding is provided through the Port Security Grant Program (PSGP). 

 

“Providing enhanced security to the Port of Lake Charles is not only critical to Southwest Louisiana, it is critical to our national security” said Boustany.  “This funding will help provide a safer, more secure environment for the ship traffic coming in and out of the port everyday.”

 

The Port Security Grant Program (PSGP) emphasizes protection from improvised explosive devices, non-conventional methods of attack, and increased domain awareness in the port environment.
