Lafayette, LA - U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr. today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded a grant in the amount of $1,134,838.80 to McNeese State University (MSU) for costs associated with Hurricane Rita.  The funding will go towards costs the University incurred to restore furnishings, fixtures, and equipment in buildings damage during the storm.

 

“This funding will assist McNeese as they continue to rebuild and replace equipment damaged by Hurricane Rita,” said Boustany.

 

Hurricane Rita caused extensive wind and water damages to facilities on the MSU Campus.  Ninety class-rooms, dormitories, office buildings and other MSU structures were affected.  Water entered buildings through damaged roofs, openings around windows and doors, causing water damage to the building finished materials and to many furnishings, fixtures and equipment.
