Representative Sanders was able to secure $868,411 of federal funding for the Smugglers’ Notch Scenic Highway Corridor Project. The funding will move the project forward to the next phase of construction that includes two interpretive centers in each of the current parking areas at the top of the Notch as well as additional improvements to the Southern Gateway, including, renovating the historic Barnes Camp so that it can be used as the Scenic Highway’s Visitor Center and eventual home of the Environmental Research, Education and Outreach Program.
