Fair trade and open markets for American goods and agricultural products are critical to our economic prosperity. However, while trade can create jobs and expand opportunities in some sectors, it often costs jobs in others. Congressman Hinojosa believes that more funding is needed for trade adjustment assistance and that worker retraining must lead to real, good-paying jobs.
Hinojosa recently met with members of a Chinese delegation to discuss business and trade opportunities between the U.S. and China.
The U.S continues to negotiate a variety of free trade agreements. These treaties are at various stages in the process, but several are expected to come before the Congress for consideration this year. Congressman Hinojosa is examining each treaty individually to ensure that the interests of the 15th District of Texas, labor, the environment, and the U.S. are protected.
