Please note that since September 11th and the anthrax attacks, Congressional mail procedures have changed. Because of biological threats, all incoming mail to Capitol Hill offices is now shipped to an off-site facility where it is tested for any traces of biological contamination.

Checking the mail is an issue of security for the thousands of people who work in the Capitol Hill office buildings on a daily basis. For several months, mail delivery to congressional offices was delayed and a huge backlog of correspondence was created. While regular delivery has resumed, it takes much longer for a letter to make its way to an office.

As a reminder: When sending mail to any congressional office, please remember to use the complete mailing address and include your name and return address. And please keep tape, staples and external decorations to a minimum. Properly addressed mail will take less time to reach the offices.
