October 31, 2006: Reynolds Cuts Ribbon Opening Livingston County Transportation Center

Congressman secured $1.4 million for new Hampton Corners facility that will serve area residents and businesses

Congressman Thomas M. Reynolds (R-Clarence) today cut the ribbon to open the new Livingston Area Transportation Service (LATS) Operations Center at Hampton Corners.  Congressman Reynolds, who secured $1.4 million in federal funding for the project, was joined at the ribbon-cutting ceremony by representatives from the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority.

"The opening of this state-of-the-art facility is the culmination of years of planning and hard work, and it's an effort I'm proud to have been a part of," Reynolds said.  "This center will improve access to transportation for residents and businesses of Livingston County and the entire region.  The transportation center here at Hampton Corners will make a real difference in the daily lives of local commuters and area businesses."

Reynolds delivered $1.4 million in federal funding to Livingston County and the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority for the new facility.  Most recently, Congressman Reynolds secured $1 million through the Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, Judiciary and DC Appropriations bill in 2005. Another $400,000 in federal dollars was secured by the Reynolds in Fiscal Year 2004.

The Center will serve headquarters for the Livingston Area Transportation Service.  LATS is the largest operation of the Rochester Genesee Regional Transportation Authority (RGRTA), which also includes Batavia Bus Service, Wayne Area Transportation Service, Wyoming Transportation Service, Orleans Transit Service, and Seneca Transit Service.

"I'm pleased to have been able to deliver the funding for this important project and help make this day possible," Reynolds said.  "I believe it is my job to fight in Washington for our area and our residents and bring back funding to invest in our economy and communities.  These federal investments I fight for address the real needs and real concerns of Western New Yorkers by improving local services and enhancing the quality of life in our area.  This project is a prime example.  By improving the area's transportation services, the center will provide tremendous benefits to residents and will provide a welcome boost to area businesses."
