“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the country.  It is imperative that all women take this opportunity to learn about this deadly disease and take the steps necessary to prevent breast cancer.

 Here on Long Island, we have a fantastic service for those seeking more information about breast cancer.  The Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline offers information and emotional support for women, men, and their families.  The hotline is staffed by breast cancer survivors.

 For 26 years, the hotline has helped countless women and their families who had medical questions or needed support in order to continue their fight against the disease. 

 I’m very proud that our community is home to such a great program.  One of my proudest moments in Congress was when Senator Clinton and I secured federal funding to keep the hotline running and helping women from all walks of life prevent and treat breast cancer.
