Kent County
Kent County is home to Delaware's capital city, Dover, and is known for its charm and historical importance. It was at The Green in the center of Dover that Delaware voted to ratify the United States Constitution, making Delaware "The First State." In 1776 the reading of the Declaration of Independence was also celebrated here.

Visitors may also observe Delaware's General Assembly while in Kent County or attend a variety of local festivals on Capital Square. Dover has also been home to Delaware Governors since 1965. Rich in history, many residents enjoy a tour of Woodburn, the Governor's Mansion.

The Dover Air Force Base is home to the 436th Airlift Wing, known as the "Eagle Wing" and the 512th Airlift Wing, which is the Air Force Reserve associate referred to as the "Liberty Wing."

For the nature observer Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is set on 15, 978 acres where short walking trails allow many to enjoy wintering waterfowl and migrating shorebirds. Natural and recreational opportunities are available at Killens Pond State Park. If you enjoy boating or fishing or are looking for new hiking ground, then this is the place for you.

If you are a NASCAR fan make sure you visit the Dover International Speedway. In May and June, the truck series joins the Busch Grand National and Winston Cup Series. In September, the Busch North Series drivers battle the high banks of the Monster Mile, followed by the Bush Grand National and Winston Cup Series.

The Delaware State Fairgrounds holds numerous events throughout the year including the annual State Fair. The Quillen Arena offers horse shows, livestock shows, rodeos, circuses and concerts for all to enjoy.

Central Delaware offers a variety of attractions and beautiful farmland for visitors and residents. With close proximity to Delaware beaches as well as Wilmington and Brandywine Valley attractions, you are sure to find fun in Kent County.
