Spanning 20 counties in central, southern and eastern Oregon, the Second Congressional District is second largest district in the United States (that isn't an entire state) and is larger than any state east of the Mississippi River. Covering more than 71,000 square miles from the Cascade Mountains east to Idaho, and from the Columbia River south to California and Nevada, the Second District is as diverse as it is vast.
The Second District has a rich history in agriculture and natural resources, industries that to this day play a vital role in communities and economies throughout the region. Additionally, the pioneering spirit of the Second District is home to innovative companies making advancements in technology, energy and telecommunications. History and the arts also play a vital role in economic activity in the District, and its recreational and tourist opportunities are too great to list. Whether your interests lie with Shakespeare, archaeology, wind surfing, backpacking, hunting, history, or a host of other activities, the Second District has something for everyone.
