Senator Santorum Expresses Concern Regarding the Growing Relationship between Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela
September 26, 2006
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, today introduced a Senate resolution expressing concern over the threatening behavior of the Government of Iran and its’ alliance with the leaders of Cuba and Venezuela.
“I hope that my Senate colleagues will support this resolution which condemns the anti-democratic actions of the leaders of Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela and expresses concern over the national security implications of the relationships between the three leaders. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a very serious threat to our nation. He routinely issues statements of hate against the United States, Israel, and the Jewish people. He is joining together with other leaders who have similarly issued statements filled with anti-American rhetoric. The people of Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela should know that we stand behind them in their quest to achieve a truly democratic form of government. It is essential that the United States support the pro-democracy movements around the world.”
