Energy
As Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, a member of my party's leadership, working with my colleagues to create a comprehensive national energy policy has been one of my top priorities. Not only is our country faced with the economic challenges posed by often volatile energy prices, we are also pressed with maintaining national energy security in both the short- and long-term. Congress is in the process of considering a variety of energy policy initiatives that would reduce energy demand, repair and maintain our energy infrastructure, and increase energy supplies, while emphasizing wise energy use, expanded domestic production, efficiency, and increased conservation. To this end, I have been proud to support clean coal and renewable energy production tax credits that are environmentally safe means of assisting our nation in meeting its energy goals.
