Deep in the heart of Florida is the Eighth Congressional District. Where there were once only swamps and orange groves, now is one of Florida's fastest growing metropolitan areas. Due to its rapid growth, the size of the district has shrunk considerably due to successive redistricting. Only twenty years ago the district stretched nearly from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. Florida Eight now includes most of Orange County and parts of neighboring Osceola, Lake, and Marion Counties. Home to Disney, Universal Studios, Lockheed Martin, and the Orlando Magic, the region enjoys one of the most diversified economies in the state.
