Casework

As your U.S. Representative, one of my top priorities is to help make sure the federal government's agencies are accessible and responsive to the needs and concerns of my constituents. While we cannot require an agency to decide a matter in your favor, my staff can help cut through red tape to get fair and timely consideration of problems at federal agencies including:

Armed Forces Business Issues Department of State INS/BCIS IRS Medicare Postal Issues Social Security Veterans Administration

According to the Privacy Act of 1974, in order for me to assist you I need your written authorization. Click here to view a printable version of the Privacy Authorization form.

I look forward to helping you.

Birthday Surprise -- Cecil Pixley of Roxboro was justly proud of his career in the Air Force, but he wasn't sure after a lifetime of moving around where all of his medals were, or for that matter, exactly what medals he had earned.

So when Sandy Matthews began planning a 72nd birthday party for her father, she called my office to see if we could get the Air Force to issue a complete set of the medals that he had earned in his career.

The birthday party was Sunday afternoon, March 28, 2004 at the Bushy Fork Community Center. I was proud to represent a grateful nation in presenting a complete set of medals to a surprised Cecil Pixley. The medals included two Bronze Service Stars for service in the Korean War, and an Air Force Commendation Medal.

Mr. Pixley's family was proud of his service, and delighted with themselves for pulling off the surprise. And I was glad to help them.

We have had great success procuring replacement service decorations for veterans. Please contact my office if we can help in replace lost decorations or if you need help dealing with a Veterans Administration issue.

I can assist you with the following agencies, among others: (You may click on the name of the agency to visit their home page.)

Armed Forces
If you are in the military and need assistance, or if you are a veteran who has never received the medals and awards to which you are entitled, I can help get a faster response from the Army, Navy, or Air Force.

Business Issues
I can help you in seeking a loan from the Small Business Administration, provide you with seminars and technical advice, and alert you to federal grants and contracts. I can also help you obtain assistance from the various agencies that promote U.S. exports.

Department of State
In emergency situations, my office can help you with the passport and visa application process. I can also provide travel information directly from U.S. embassies abroad.

Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services
If your immigration application has been stalled, my office will help you work with the BCIS.

Internal Revenue Service
I can help you settle disputes with the IRS, and help you cut through IRS red tape. I also have information about education and child care tax credits which could benefit you and your family.

Medicare
My office can help you cut red tape and solve reimbursement problems. I can also help you determine what services are covered and provide information about Medicare programs.

Postal Issues
I can help with your local post office if you are experiencing problems with your mail service, and help you track down lost or diverted packages.

Social Security
Are you having problems with your benefits? I can inquire about overdue payments for disability, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and survivor benefits.

Veterans Administration
If you have served our nation, you deserve the benefits to which you are entitled. I can help your efforts to collect benefits or to register with the VA health center.
