BRADLEY RETURNS TO WASHINGTON FOR HEARINGS ADDRESSING 9/11 COMMISSION RECOMMENDATIONS
Witnesses to include 9/11 Commission Chairman, Deputy Secretary of Defense

(Washington, D.C.) – First District Congressman Jeb Bradley will return to Washington tomorrow to take part in hearings that will address recommendations of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (also known as the 9/11 Commission). The hearings will be held by the House Armed Services Committee, of which Bradley is a member, and will take place Tuesday and Wednesday.

“I look forward to returning to Washington this week to take part in hearings that will address some of the important recommendations made by the 9/11 Commission,” said Bradley. “It is my hope that as a result of hearings being held by the Armed Services Committee as well as five other House committees, Congress will be able to act on the recommendations when we are back in session in September. These hearings are a critically important step in improving the security of our nation.”

The hearings will specifically focus on the role of the Department of Defense in national intelligence. The majority of the national defense budget is managed by the Department of Defense and authorized by the House Armed Services Committee. The defense intelligence agencies include the National Security Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, National Reconnaissance Office, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and several other programs.

Witnesses for the hearings include:

Thomas Kean, Chairman, National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
Lee Hamilton, Vice Chairman, National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense
Lieutenant General Michael Hayden, USAF, Director, National Security Agency
