BRADLEY HONORED AS “PERSON OF THE YEAR” BY THE GRANITE STATE CHAPTER OF THE ASSOCIATION OF THE U.S. ARMY
Recognized for his work on veterans’ issues and support of our armed forces

(Manchester, NH) – First District Congressman Jeb Bradley was honored by the Granite State Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) at a dinner ceremony last night in Manchester. The AUSA honored Bradley with their “Person of the Year” award for his tireless efforts on behalf of our troops, veterans, and their families.

“Our organization’s prime goal is the support of our soldiers and their families. In a year marked by continued deployments, high operational tempo, and continued threats abroad, our soldiers have proudly taken on the challenge and served our country so very well. We should do no less to support these soldiers and their families. This year there was a clear choice as to a quality person that has tirelessly supported these efforts: Jeb Bradley,” said Ron Bushey, President of the Granite State Chapter of the AUSA.

The AUSA cited Bradley’s work on the House Armed Services and Veterans’ Affairs Committees as one of the deciding factors in announcing this award. As a member of the Armed Services Committee, Bradley has continuously supported strong pay increases for soldiers. He also worked successfully to reject a 2006 proposal by the Administration to raise enrollment fees for TRICARE, the health care system for active duty military and their families, and successfully zeroed out co-pays for generic and formulary prescriptions through TRICARE mail-order pharmacies. Bradley has also been supportive of efforts to secure funding for force protection needs.

As a member of the Veterans’ Affairs and Budget Committees, Bradley twice offered amendments to the budget resolution that increased budget authority for veterans’ health care, the most recent amendment increasing authority by $795 million next year and by $3.975 billion over the next five years. Bradley was instrumental in the effort to keep the Manchester VA Medical Center emergency room open 24 hours a day, and is a strong advocate of expanding the community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC) network in New Hampshire.

“I am honored to be recognized by the Granite State Chapter of the AUSA for my work in Congress,” said Bradley. “Our soldiers and veterans deserve nothing but the best care and benefits, and I will continue my efforts to ensure that we are meeting their needs both on and off the battlefield.”
