11/16/2006 Introduction to the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church This lecture will provide a continuing overview of the Compendium of Catholic Social Doctrine, a book which captures, in one document, the principles of Catholic Social Teaching found in Scripture, documents of the Church's Ecumenical Councils, Papal documents and other documents of the Church. Speakers: Dr. Peter Casarella, CUA and Dr. David Schindler, John Paul II Institute. They will cover Chapters 12 to the conclusion of the Compendium, including social doctrine and ecclesial action, and conclusion for a civilization of love. 11/17/2006 Illuminating the Word: The St. John's Bible Visit the Library of Congress for this exhibit of the first illuminated Bible in 500 years. Commissioned by St. John's University and Abbey in Minnesota, the St. John's Bible is being written and illustrated entirely by had. Approximately 100 large-scale pages will showcase the book's superb contemporary and medieval craftsmanship.
