Statement by House Workforce Committee Leaders on Labor Department’s OSHA Ergonomics Proposal WASHINGTON, D.C. -- House Education & the Workforce Chairman John Boehner (R-OH) and Workforce Protections Subcommittee Chairman Charlie Norwood (R-GA) today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Labor’s proposals for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on workplace ergonomics. “The Committee is pleased that Secretary Chao has announced the Department’s proposed plans to use voluntary guidelines to reduce ergonomic injuries. We look forward to reviewing the Secretary’s proposal in greater detail. We expect we will have many questions about how these guidelines will be implemented and enforced. To that end, the Education & the Workforce Subcommittee on Workforce Protections expects to schedule a hearing on the Secretary’s proposal at the earliest opportunity.” # # # # # |
