QUEBEC CITY, Quebec,
Nov 13 -
U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) continued his participation Monday in the 52nd Annual Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
This year’s meeting brings together some 340 parliamentarians from Europe and North America and runs through November 17, 2006.
Monday morning, Boozman met with the American Ambassador to Canada, David H. Wilkins, as well as the Consular General for Quebec City, Abigail Friedman.
On Tuesday, parliamentarians will break off into their respective committee meetings. Rep. Boozman will join Petras Austrevicius, Liberals Movement member of the Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas), in presenting a Draft Report of the Sub-Committee on Transatlantic Economic Relations entitled: "China's Development Challenge.”
“The international community is looking to China to play a positive and engaged role in international relations and the Chinese leadership claims that this is precisely what it seeks to achieve,” Boozman and Austrevicius said in the summary of their report.
Boozman is scheduled to return on Wednesday, November 15, in order to participate in the current session of the House of Representatives.
Boozman was appointed to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Parliamentary Assembly in 2003. NATO PA is an inter-parliamentary organization of legislators from the 19 member countries of NATO and 20 associate countries. He also serves as vice-chairman of the British American Parliamentary Group, a group of American and British lawmakers who meet to discuss issues of concern and fortify the already strong alliance between the two nations.
