House Seal Outline

Washington, Oct 2 -

U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representative John Boozman announced today that North Arkansas College has been awarded a $399,932 grant from the United States Department of Education through the Strengthening Institutions Program.

The Strengthening Institutions Program provides grants to institutions of higher education for improvement of their academic quality, institutional management and fiscal stability, and to strengthen their capacity to make a substantial contribution to the higher education resources of the nation.

"North Arkansas College provides people living in Northern Arkansas access to an affordable quality education," Senator Lincoln said. "These federal dollars will allow Northark to build upon its success of serving the educational needs of many Arkansans."

"North Arkansas College is already an important part of Arkansas' educational system, and this grant will further help students achieve their educational and career goals. By improving the academic quality and financial stability of the college, all of North Arkansas will benefit," Senator Pryor said.

"For many in the Third District, Northark is the only opportunity they have for a postsecondary education," Boozman said. "This money will allow Northark to reach out to at-risk students to help them achieve their educational goals, allowing them to achieve in the work-force."
