Bordallo Joins Colleagues in Urging the President to Fund Protections for Veterans and Servicemembers
Following Theft of Personal Information

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—June 9, 2006—Washington, D.C.—

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo joined 150 Members of the House of Representatives in calling on the President to provide emergency funding to aid the affected veterans and servicemembers in response to the disclosure of a serious breach of security at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), which may have compromised the personal information of millions of veterans and active duty personnel.

“We are deeply concerned about the theft of personal data from the home a Veterans Affairs analyst. It appears that virtually all veterans and reserve and active duty members have had their personal information compromised,” Bordallo said. “Our government now has a duty, in light of this security breach, to fund the measures necessary to protect our veterans and military men and women who serve today.”

The letter addressed concerns regarding the source of funding necessary to help mitigate the adverse consequences of the data security breach.View Attachement.
