Congressman Robert Aderholt Includes "Fair Market"

Exemption Language for Gadsden Airport Property
Bill Language Will Allow Gadsden's Business Climate To Remain Competitive

WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Halevyille) today announced that his work with the Appropriations Committee was successful in including language exempting the City of Gadsden from restrictions on property around Gadsden Airport that can be used for industrial development. The exemption allows the city to now sell the land at a rate allowing Gadsden to remain competitive with other areas working to attract business. Other cities often do not have to meet similar "Fair Market Value" pricing restrictions, and that has put Gadsden at a disadvantage.

"I have always been supportive of Gadsden's efforts to use the land surrounding the airport in a way that supports both the airport and the community's ongoing economic development initiatives," said Congressman Aderholt, who has a history of working on this issue. "This is very good news for Gadsden and Etowah County in being able to use this land to attract new jobs to the area."

"Gadsden is an excellent place to do business," added Congressman Aderholt. "This is a common sense solution to help the city continue to make the best, and most promising use of its land."
