District SpotlightVeterans Day festivities will take place between 11:00am and 4:30pm. The parade will begin at 11:00am on the corner of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and San Fernando Mission Boulevard. Participants will check in at 9:00am at the intersection of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Rinaldi Street, Mission Hills, CA 91345. Upon proceeding down Laurel Canyon Blvd 1.1 miles, the parade will culminate in a Street Fair at the Ritchie Valens Recreation Center and Park, 10736 Laurel Canyon Blvd., Pacoima, CA 91331 (the corner of Laurel Canyon Blvd and Paxton Street). The festival will not only feature military displays, food and other typical festival activities, it will provide an opportunity for Veterans to receive needed services and information. The Department of Veterans Affairs and other interested organizations will have booths at the festival to provide this information. Congressman Berman stated, “This is the third year we’ve organized a Veteran’s Day parade for the San Fernando Valley and each year I am struck by how much it means to Veterans and their families. Especially today, when our troops are serving in Iraq and around the globe, it is critical that we take time to honor their work and their sacrifices. The parade will be bigger than ever and I am hoping even more people will come out and enjoy it.” |
