Rep. Berman Sponsors Resolution Demanding Release of Intelligence Reports on Iraq
 
 
Washington, D.C. - Rep. Howard Berman and more than 40 other members of Congress today introduced H. Res. 1043, a resolution demanding that the Bush Administration release, in unclassified form, all intelligence reports concerning the impact of the war in Iraq on terrorism, including the entire April 2006 National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on "Trends in Global Terrorism" and the pending NIE on Iraq.
 
"Congress and the American people deserve a complete picture of the situation in Iraq," Berman said.  "There is no reason these reports can't be declassified and released to the public, while protecting sensitive intelligence sources and methods."

Directing the Director of National Intelligence to submit to the House of Representatives not later than 14 days after the date of the adoption of this resolution, in unclassified form, all documents in the possession of the Director concerning the impact of the war in Iraq on terrorism and terrorist threats, including a National Intelligence Estimated entitled "Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States" dated on or about April, 2006, and any other actual or pending National Intelligence Estimates concerning Iraq.

Directing the Director of National Intelligence to submit to the House of Representatives not later than 14 days after the date of the adoption of this resolution, in unclassified form, all documents in the possession of the Director concerning the impact of the war in Iraq on terrorism and terrorist threats, including a National Intelligence Estimated entitled "Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States" dated on or about April, 2006, and any other actual or pending National Intelligence Estimates concerning Iraq.
 
Resolved, That the Director of National Intelligence is directed to submit to the House of Representatives not later than 14 days after the date of the adoption of this resolution, in unclassified form, all documents in the possession of the Director concerning the impact of the war in Iraq on terrorism and terrorist threats, including a National Intelligence Estimated entitled "Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States," dated on or about April, 2006, and any other actual or pending National Intelligence Estimates concerning Iraq.
