I am pleased to extend to you the opportunity to apply for a nomination to either the Air Force, Military, Merchant Marine, or Naval Academies. The United States Service Academies have a long and prestigious history and therefore the students appointed to these institutions represent the best that the United States has to offer.  The admissions process is very competitive and therefore it is best if the nomination process is started in the spring of the applicant's junior year of high school.  All applicants for a nomination must meet the following basic requirements:

1. Must be a legal resident of the Seventeenth Congressional District.
2. Will have completed high school before entering.
3. Must be at least 17 years of age and will not have reached 22 years of age by June 1 of the year appointed to enter the Academy.
