These flags can be displayed in public buildings, residences, and classrooms, and are a way to commemorate special occasions. Flying flags over the U.S. Capitol Building takes about 3-4 weeks and each flag comes with a personalized certificate.
According to the U.S. Flag Code 36s 176(k), "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning." Rep. Royce will also collect old, worn-out flags to ensure that they are retired properly. If you have an old flag that is unfit to fly, please drop it off at his Fullerton office, located at 305 N. Harbor Blvd., Suite 300 in Fullerton, CA.
