I hope that by sharing these initiatives with each other, we will be able to take advantage of what’s working and strengthen our Republican Conference as we work through this critical session of Congress. – John T. Doolittle, House Republican Conference Secretary
Calvert: Guide to Emergency Services Mailer The Guide to Emergency Services mailer is sent to constituents as a reminder to prepare themselves and their family for a possible emergency. This mailer provides constituents with all the necessary information that is needed during an emergency. Cannon: Visit to Action Target Action Target is a local company in Congressman Cannon’s district which builds training facilities used by U.S. soldiers as well as police departments throughout the country and has recently built a training facility in northeast Baghdad. Action Target officials walked the Congressman through the facility, and then let him participate in a drill with local police officers. Media was in attendance for the drills which led to several positive stories throughout his district about the event. Although these types of facilities are unique, districts with war on terror related facilities are hot topics for the media to cover. Congressman Cannon was able to show his support both for the troops and his constituents through this event. Lungren: TeleTown Hall TeleTown Hall allowed Congressman Lungren to call 627 constituents for a “virtual town hall” meeting. This new technology allows a Member of Congress to hold a multi-person conference call that simultaneously identifies households, counts the number of call participants and manages the queue for questions. TeleTown Hall is a cost effective way for Members to connect on a personal level with their constituents and allows immediate feedback and identification of opinions without the cost and/or labor of appearing personally for a town hall meeting in the district. |
