Congressional Hispanic Caucus
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) is an informal group of 21 Members of Congress of Hispanic descent. The Caucus is dedicated to voicing and advancing issues affecting Hispanic Americans in the United States and the insular areas. The CHC was founded in December 1976 as a legislative service organization of the U.S. House of Representatives. Today, the CHC is organized as a congressional member organization, governed under the Rules of Congress and comprised solely of Members of the United States Congress. Congressman Baca currently serves as First Vice Chair of the CHC and Chair of the CHC’s Corporate America Task Force.
As Chair of the CHC’s Corporate America Task Force, Congressman Baca’s goal is to bring the Hispanic community and the corporate world together. The task force has three primary goals:
- To draw on the knowledge, skill, and experience of leaders of the world’s largest companies to ensure that the face of corporate America resembles the face of the rest of America.
- To work with companies to increase their support of the Hispanic community, Hispanic-owned businesses, and Hispanic organizations.
- To develop strategies to increase mentorship and career development opportunities for Hispanics in the fields of business and finance.
It is the responsibility of influential Hispanic leaders in government and business to build on the gains made by Hispanics in corporate America.
