Our forests are oxygen-producing, water-recharging natural resources that not only help clean our air and water, but provide natural homes for animals and recreation and resources for our daily lives.

The Committee's major work resulted in a new law -- the "Healthy Forests Restoration Act of 2003" -- to better address caring for forests threatened by wildfire and disease.
