New
Jersey's U.S. Congressional District 9 is located in Bergen. Hudson and Passaic
Counties in the Northeast portion of the state. Across the Hudson River from Manhattan,
District 9 has become a sprawling gateway to New York City with about 15% of residents
working in the metropolitan area. District 9 is the one of the most densely populated
areas in the most densely populated state in the country.
The
central landmark to Northeast New Jersey and District 9 is the Meadowlands, 8,400
acres of wetlands and home to thousands of species of animals and plants. Within
the wetlands is the Meadowlands Sports Complex consisting of Giants Stadium, Continental
Arena and a racetrack, home to many popular professional sports teams and events.
Manufacturing
is the single largest industry in District 9 with more than 55,000 workers and
over $2 billion annual payroll.
