1. Dress Requirements -- The dress requirements for males is a navy blazer, long sleeved white shirt, dark gray slacks, dark socks, dark shoes, and a standard issue tie. For females, the dress requirement is a navy blazer, a long sleeved white blouse, dark gray skirt or dark gray pants, dark shoes, appropriate hose, and a standard issue tie that is provided during orientation. Shoes should be solid black non-canvas low cut athletic shoes or comfortable black dress shoes. Pages are expected to maintain a neat appearance and conservative hairstyle at all time and adhere to the above dress code while working on the Capitol complex during business hours.

2. Housing -- All summer pages live at the Page Residence Hall (unless alternative arrangements are made and approved prior to arrival) under the supervision of a resident Hall Director and 6 round-the-clock staff who reside on the premises. Police security is provided round-the-clock. The third floor is set aside for males and the fourth floor for females. The triple rooms are furnished with twin beds, night stands, dressers, desks, and chairs. Each room has a large walk-in closet, a study area, a toll-controlled telephone, a small refrigerator, and a private bathroom. A community room with a television and microwave oven is available on each floor as well as a laundry room in the basement.

3. General Information -- Pages are responsible for their transportation to and from D.C., their uniform, lunch on weekdays, weekend meals (except for dinner) and all incidental expenses they incur. In addition, a one-time, refundable security deposit of $100.00 made payable to the U.S. Treasury is required for the dorm.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Age -- Pages must be at least 16 years old on the day the page term in which they will serve begins. Verification of age is required.

2. Grade Level Fall or Spring Term -- A page serving in the academic year must be a Junior in high school. The House Page School offers a junior year course of study only. Summer Term -- A page serving during the summer term must have completed the 10th grade and not have begun the 12th grade.

3. Academic Requirements Fall or Spring Term -- Page Board regulations require that candidates must have maintained at least a 3.0 academic Grade Point Average in the major subjects for the 9th and 10th grades. Summer Term -- There is no page school during the summer. There are no academic requirements for summer pages.

4. Citizenship or Alien Status -- Pages must be U.S. citizens or aliens with a work visa (green card). Aliens with only a student visa are not eligible.

5. Appointment -- Applicants can only be appointed by the Democratic Leadership. No other office or individual can appoint a page. If you are appointed, you will receive a copy of the appointment letter from the Democratic Leadership addressed to your sponsoring Member of Congress.

Compensation and Fees

All Pages are compensated with a monthly salary of $1,344.64. Automatic deductions will be made for federal and states taxes, Social Security, and the Residence Hall fees. Pages are paid on the last working day of the month. There is an initial $100 security deposit for the residency halls. An additional $400 monthly fee is required for the residence hall, which includes five breakfasts, five lunches, and seven dinners per week and is automatically deducted from the Page's salary.

Application Process

If an applicant feels he or she meets the initial eligibility requirements, they should complete the page application. Copies of page application forms are available from our Florida office. An application can be requested by mail or telephone.
