As a U. S. Senator from the great state of Kansas, it is my honor to assist Kansans in communicating with the many departments and agencies of the federal government. If you are experiencing difficulties in working with the government, please allow me to help. My state staff is specifically trained to act as a liaison between you and the federal agencies that serve you. My staff stands ready to assist you in determining your entitlement to federal benefits, securing copies of federal documents, obtaining the status of applications and/or claims before federal agencies, and much more.
Requesting help is easy. Simply complete the Privacy Act Consent Form and mail, fax or e-mail it to the state office nearest you. The Privacy Act of 1974 and its subsequent amendments, prohibit the release of your information to a third party without your written consent. Consequently, federal agencies will not release information to my staff without proof of your consent.

How do I ask for help?
Complete the Privacy Act Consent Form or write a letter outlining your issue and specific request. Be sure to include your full name, address, daytime phone number and any identifying case numbers, claim numbers or other information that may help us identify your claim, petition or application.

Can Senator Roberts overturn an agency’s decision?
I have no authority to overturn an agency’s decision. I will, however, ensure that you are aware of any rights you may have to appeal a decision.

Can I ask for help on behalf of someone else?
The Privacy Act of 1974 requires the express written permission of the individual for whom information is being sought. This requirement includes, but is not limited to, spouses, siblings, children and other immediate relatives. Parents of children under the age of 18 may request assistance on behalf of their minor child. Legally authorized guardians or individuals holding an executed Power of Attorney may request assistance on behalf of an adult or child. In such instances, a copy of the Power of Attorney must be included with the request.

Can Senator Roberts help me if I’m not a resident of Kansas?
No. A longstanding tradition allows Senators to serve the constituents of the state from which they were elected. If you are not a resident of Kansas, you will need to contact a Senator from your state to obtain assistance.

Can Senator Roberts assist me with a legal matter?
No. Senator Roberts has no authority in matters pending before local, county, state or federal courts.
