As a former educator, Congressman Dan Lipinski understands the tools needed for educators to be productive in educating our nation's youth and that every child's future depends on receiving a quality education. Congressman Lipinski has met with educators and students throughout the 3rd district and in Washington D.C. to discuss the importance of education and issues relevant to the success of a K-12 curriculum. Congressman Lipinski is working in Washington, D.C. for revisions to the No Child Left Behind Act and increased funding for local schools. Congressman Lipinski is also committed to improving the access to financial assistance for all students so that every one who chooses to earn an advanced education is able to do so financially.

Note on Social Security Fairness Act -
On September 29th, Congressman Lipinski signed the discharge petition that would provide for the consideration of H.R. 147, the Social Security Fairness Act; a bill that Congressman Lipinski is a cosponsor of. In enacted, H.R. 147 would amend title II of the Social Security Act to repeal the government pension offset (GPO) and windfall elimination provisions (WEP), thus this legislation would provide fairer benefits for Social Security recipients.
Railroad safety in Chicago area could be improved. Railroad crossings in the Chicago area are about to become safer and much more efficient. It's the first step in a $1.5 billion plan to improve the rail system throughout Illinois.
