Moran Selects Sarah Brown of Hays for Internship

HAYS - Congressman Jerry Moran today announced that Sarah Brown of Hays is serving as an intern in his Washington, D.C., office. Brown is a 2003 graduate of TMP-Marian.

"I began my career in public service with an internship in Washington, D.C., and I am pleased young Kansans like Sarah are able to have similar experiences," Moran said. "A congressional internship is a great way to learn about our nation's government."

Brown is a senior at Fort Hays State University (FHSU), where she is pursuing degrees in organizational leadership and business management. At FHSU, she is an Anderson V.I.P Student Ambassador, a FHSU Orientation Advisor, Kansas Youth Leadership Academy Counselor, and a member of Mortar Board, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Omicron Delta Kappa. Brown was a recipient of the Silver Academic Scholarship and has been named to the Dean's Honor Roll. She plans to graduate from FHSU in May 2007 and pursue a career in athletic event planning.

"Being in Washington, D.C., is allowing me to see government in action and history in the making," Brown said. "This opportunity has given me the chance to meet people from all over the country. This has been an experience of a lifetime."

In the office, Brown assists Congressman Moran with legislative and administrative duties on behalf of the people of Kansas.

Sarah is the daughter of Dave and Joan Brown of Hays.
