Winning Artwork to be Displayed in U.S. Capitol

GREAT BEND - Congressman Jerry Moran today announced that entries are being accepted for the 2006 Congressional Arts Competition. All high school students in the First Congressional District may enter their artwork. Barton County Arts Council (BCAC) in Great Bend will host the 2006 competition. All submissions must be delivered to BCAC by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2006.

"I look forward to this art competition each year," Moran said. "The artistic abilities of young Kansans always amaze me. This is a unique opportunity to showcase these talents to the members of the U.S. House of Representatives and thousands of visitors to the U.S. Capitol."

The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year, and the student will be eligible for a cash award. The winning entry will be announced in a ceremony on Monday, February 20, at 1:30 p.m. at BCAC, 1401 Main Street, in Great Bend.
