Moran to Host Central Kansas Veterans' Forum After Memorial Day

Event in Marion to Focus on Issues Facing Kansas Veterans

MARION - Congressman Jerry Moran today announced he will host a forum for veterans later this month in Marion to discuss health care and benefits provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Tom Sanders, Director for the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, and Charles Woolford, Director for the Robert J. Dole VA Regional Office, will join Moran to hear the thoughts and concerns of veterans.

"Veterans' forums allow me to meet with our Kansas veterans to learn about the challenges they face," Moran said. "For their dedication and service to our country, we must continually work to ensure their needs are being met by the VA."

"Many veterans are unaware of what is available to them," Dan Holub, Vice Commander of the Marion VFW, said. "I appreciate Congressman Moran and the VA coming to Marion. It will be a good time for everyone to come together and learn. I encourage area veterans to attend."

This is the seventh forum on veterans' issues hosted by Moran. Previous forums have taken place in Cimarron, Sabetha, Salina, Clay Center, Goodland and Hutchinson. Moran is a member of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee and has served as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health.

The event will be Tuesday, May 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Marion VFW Post #6958, 420 W. Santa Fe. Members of Moran's staff will be on hand along with representatives from the VA to handle any concerns that veterans or their families may have. All area veterans, as well as other members of the public are encouraged to attend.
