Ackerman to Hold Town Hall Meeting for Queens Small Business Owners

(Washington, DC) - U.S. Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-Queens/L.I.)—in conjunction with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)—will host a town hall meeting for Queens small business owners to make them aware of assistance and resources available to them from the federal government.

The event is scheduled to focus on a number of vital issues facing the local small business community including how to stay in business with the help of government assistance, obtaining government contracts, hiring employees and negotiating leases. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

The town hall meeting is also an excellent resource for the small businesses destroyed in the September 26 fire in Corona, Queens as the event can help them get back on their feet.

The town hall meeting is set for Wednesday, November 8, 2006 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Queens Public Library in Corona located at 38-23 104th Street.

Participants—in addition to the Congressman—include Small Business Administration (SBA) Regional Administrator William Manger, SBA District Director Jose Sifontes, Thomas Galante, Director of Library Services for the Queens Library, Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, Queens State Senator John Sabini and Queens Assemblyman Jose Peralta.
