Jindal Receives Commitment from House Leadership on Offshore Royalty Vote in Coming Weeks

Washington, Nov 13 -  Just hours after returning to Washington, Congressman Bobby Jindal (LA-01) today received a commitment from House leadership that an offshore royalty bill will be voted upon before the end of this calendar year.

Since Tuesday's elections, Jindal has worked hard in working with the House Leadership and the Bush Administration to stress the importance to Louisiana in getting legislation passed as soon as possible.

"Today's commitment from the House leadership is a huge step in getting Congress to pass a bill in the coming weeks and sending a final version to the President for his signature," Jindal said. "I have worked hard since Tuesday's election to speak with House leadership and the Bush Administration to urge them to take action on this important bill. Congress must act in the coming weeks to pass an offshore energy bill as delaying action until the next Congress would be devastating to our efforts. We cannot let the perfect be the enemy of the good, and must pass some type of offshore royalty legislation by the end of this year."
