Now Accepting Summer 2007 Applications

Ideal interns will be personable, organized, independent student leaders wanting an opportunity to learn.  Internships can be credited or non-credited and have flexible schedules.  Come and join a stimulating work environment that shares a common goal of improving Oklahoma and our nation.  We are an equal opportunity employer.

Dates and Hours
Dr. Coburn offers four intern sessions per year.  The fall session runs from September through December, the spring session runs January through May and there are two summer sessions, one during the month of June and one during the month of July.  The 2007 summer session dates are yet to be determined.  The internships require a 40 hour per week commitment.

Duties
Each intern will assist the senator and his staff with administrative duties, legislative correspondence, research and press operations.  Interns will have an opportunity to observe the legislative process first hand and work as part of a dynamic and professional team.

Requirements
Applicants must have completed at least one year of study in an institution of higher education.  Oklahoma residents and/or students receive priority in the selection process.

The Senator
Prior to his election to the Senate, Dr. Coburn represented Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2001.  He was first elected in 1994, then re-elected in 1996 and 1998, becoming the first Republican to hold the seat for consecutive terms.  Dr. Coburn retired from Congress to fulfill his pledge to serve no more than three terms in the House of Representatives.

Course Credit
We encourage students to seek course credit for their internship and are happy to work with any college program in helping the student fulfill the requirements to receive credit.

Compensation
A stipend is available for each session from which taxes will be withheld.

Application
The office requires a resume, cover letter, completed application and a college transcript from all applicants.  Materials can be faxed to our Oklahoma office or Washington, D.C., office.  See below for details.
