WASHINGTON, D.C. - Idaho Senator Larry Craig had the following statement today in reaction to the President's nomination of Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne as the Secretary of the Interior:
"I have known and worked with Dirk for many years. He is talented, energetic, and understands the issues that surround public lands and endangered species. The President has made a fine choice, and I will work to ensure Dirk receives a fair and swift confirmation in the Senate."
Craig chairs the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee's Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests, which has jurisdiction over a number of Department of the Interior functions, including the Bureau of Land Management and oversight of U.S. territories.
